If I was asked to choose one makeup item that I could wear for the rest of my life it would be mascara. I can go an entire day with just mascara on and still feel confident. I believe eyes are the first thing someone sees so I love highlighting my eyelashes. But the truth is, mascara can be pricey especially if you use it everyday. Makeup in general can add up, but thats why we have drugstore makeup!

I’ve tried many drugstore mascaras and it’s always the same routine for me. I love my new mascara and think it’s better than the one I was using before.

I will use it daily until I get to a point where I’m over it. I want something new and better. I see hundreds of TV commercials claiming that their mascara will make your lashes have full volume and incredible length and I really just want to buy them all. But, after using the L’Oréal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes mascara I stop paying attention to all other drugstore mascara. This one is a life-changer.

Here it is. The mascara that makes everyone ask if I’m wearing false lashes!

This mascara retails for $8.75 on the L’Oréal Paris website. However, you can find it for even less in  Target and on their website for $6.75.  I have to admit, I already have pretty long eyelashes but this mascara makes them crazy long! There is a fiber formula in this tube that clings onto the end of your lashes which makes them look longer and thicker or “voluminous”. Here is a before and after picture of myself wearing this mascara. (Sorry, these pictures look a bit creepy but you can really tell the difference!)

Grabbing your boyfriend’s T-shirt or sweatpants the next morning is something you’ve always done. But who thought your boyfriend’s clothes would actually become a fashion trend? This oversized and baggy fit is specifically made and marketed in stores for women.

Like stated before this trend has been around for a while, but it’s been slowly growing and boyfriend jeans will definitely be a hit this Spring. So go ahead, now you have an excuse to steal your boyfriend’s jeans. But if you don’t have a boyfriend, don’t worry retail stores have started selling boyfriend jeans for us single ladies (cue Beyonce). American Eagle Outfitters, Hollister and Nordstorm are currently selling this trend.

Now that you have boyfriend jeans or you plan on getting them, the question is, how do you style them?

Although we’re wearing  a”men’s fit” we don’t want to actually look like men. Right?

Most boyfriend jeans sold in stores come destroyed with rips and tears everywhere to resemble the grunge look. They also come cropped at the bottom so you can wear them in warmer weather and show off your shoes, make sure to roll them up! Like most things, it really depends on what you pair these loose jeans with. You can go from sporty to girly by just changing your top or shoes.

For a girly look pair the jeans with a plain tee, blazer, and statement necklace. For shoes, wear flats, booties, or even pumps to dress up the outfit.

For a more casual sporty look, wear a crop top and a flannel around the waist. Add converse (high or low top) to keep the look casual. Kylie Jenner is known for wearing this kind of style.

Here is a video on how I style boyfriend jeans:

Here’s another great trend for Spring and summer. Have you ever thought of wearing identical top and bottoms? A common fashion tip is to never wear an outfit with all the same hues. But crop tops and high waisted skirts/shorts are changing that rule.

Crop tops are not going anywhere this summer so why not incorporate this new trend into your style.

Pair your crop top with a matching high waisted skirt so that there is a sliver of skin showing. This outfit gives an illusion that you’re wearing a dress but instead you’re rocking a new style and can wear the top and bottoms separately whenever you want. It’s like two outfits in one! If you don’t like skirts and then wear matching shorts instead.

I haven’t not seen many matching top and bottoms in-stores yet so I’m not sure if they will placed together on a hanger or table. That would make shopping so much easier but you might have to do some searching! I have seen this trend online with stores such as Forever 21, Asos, and Necessary Clothing.

This trend is easy for formal or casual wear. Add a pair of high heels for a night out or sandals for an everyday look.

Yup, here is another 90’s trend making a come back! You either love em’ or hate em’. Whether you like it or not you’ll see at least one girl this spring wearing denim overalls. I feel like this trend tried to make a comeback last spring season but there are so many negative feelings about overalls that girls stay away from this risky trend. I was one of those people though. “Overalls? Ew. Who would ever wear those?” But, surprisingly my views have changed.

Why, you may ask? Denim overalls can actually look good and can give off a girly vibe. However, leather overalls also exist if you’re more of an edgy kind of gal.

The key to make overalls look good is what you wear under them. The top can either make or break the outfit. Never wear a thin strap tank top with overalls. Use a bright floral bralette or plain T-shirt to add style and avoid looking like a farmer or construction worker.

image I took the picture of this mannequin at American Eagle Outfitters. This was the outfit that changed my views of overalls. I love the plaid shirt around the waist and the unbuttoned strapped. It gives that chill, “I didn’t try to look this good vibe.” And leaving one strap to hang keeps this outfit from looking childish.

There are many types of overalls. I like short ones but there are also full-on denim overall pants. Since Spring is right around the corner I would opt for the shorts. The long pants are too risky for me but that doesn’t mean people haven’t been rocking them.

Nowadays there are so many ways to style overalls because designers have gone beyond original blue denim. Overalls come in white denim, prints, leather, chiffon, velvet, and etc. Have fun with overalls and make them your own! Don’t let your initial thought of them stop you from buying some this season.

You may have seen these pants in stores recently but do you know where they originated from?

Harem pants originated in the Arabian peninsula and are commonly used for belly dancing. The traditional harem pant is a very baggy and oversized lose fit. The pant is fitted through the leg and stays loose and baggy in the crotch so that it almost reaches the floor. This look doesn’t sound too appealing now does it? It wasn’t until the late 1980s when M.C Hammer came along and created a “modern” twist on the harem pants.

The new pants are known as Hammer pants or Harem and use less fabric to create a more “fashionable” look that celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Rihanna wear.

At first you may think these pants are hideous. Who would want to wear saggy pants? I know I know, I had the same initial reaction.

But paired with the right shoes they can be  a classy yet casual style. Coming from a vertically challenged girl’s point of view (yes, I am very short) I would never wear harem pants with any type of flat shoe.

The goal is to  make these pants elongate your legs. So pair these loose pants with wedges or pumps to create slim-dressed up look. Since there’s so much loose material going on with your bottoms, I would suggest wearing a crop top or anything tight on top. If you’re going for the bohemian look add a neutral lace cardigan with your crop top.

Did I convince you? Will you be adding harem pants to your spring closet or am I just crazy for liking this trend? How would you wear them with? I want to know what you think! Leave a comment down below.

Imagine sweatshirts with extra fabric around the neck. Well they exist. They’re called funnel neck sweatshirts. The extra fabric around the neck adds a comfortable look that also resembles an infinity scarf. I saw this type of style for the first time in the Fall on my college campus. But, only the European guys had them. So I thought to myself this must be a European style —just wait a couple of month and it’ll be in American retail stores.

And guess what? I was right! The first time I saw the funnel neck sweatshirts in the States was in December. American Eagle Outfitters carries these sweatshirts but only for girls. I find it interesting that AEO didn’t make them for guys but luckily H&M has and they are even more affordable.

If you’re having trouble finding this piece look them in on the men’s side. It works as a unisex sweatshirt, you may just have to go down a size.

The neck detail adds a fresh look the everyday sweatshirt and allows you to dress comfortable while still looking stylish. These sweatshirts can be worn on those days when you feel like bumming it to class. I wear mine around the house and to sleep. If I’m going out of the house, I would pair it up with some blue jeans and sneakers.

Insight on European Fashion

While I was writing this blog in the library, Florian Popp one of the European students on campus walked in and I thought it was the perfect chance to catch an interview! He wears funnel neck sweatshirts and was part of the inspiration for this post.

Tell me a little bit about the funnel neck sweatshirts, where did you buy yours?

“I bought mine 2 years old, and only now it is coming to America. I bought mine in Germany but the funnel neck sweaters aren’t a big trend in Europe anymore.”

What are your favorite brands of clothing?

“I like to shop at Religion Clothing, Diesel, and Replay. When I am in America I have to shop for them online but we have these stores in Europe.”

How would you describe your style?

“I don’t really have a style. I just wear what I want. I like to wear European clothes because it’s different. Most people in America shop at H&M, Abercrombie or Hollister. I like to wear my own things and don’t like when people wear the same things as me. If someone does I won’t ever wear it again.”

What kind of styles are in Europe right now?

“A lot of army trends are coming back. I’ve seen a lot of army jackets with leather sleeves.”
